LOOKING AFTER YOUR NEW KITTEN

The thought of bringing home a new kitten is a very exciting time, here are a few suggestions that will make your little kittens welcome a warm and lasting one.
Your kitten will need time to adjust to it's new environment, and understanding this will be the first step in getting off to a positive start.

Place your kitten in a small quiet room, with it's litter box, bed, food and water. Your kitten will need time to adjust and I would spend plenty of time with him/her in their little room. You must keep her confined to that room until you are confident that she knows where to go back to find her litter tray and all of her bits and bobs, this may take a few days.

If you have other pets in the household, it is essential that you keep your new kitten confined to one room for the first few days, this will give your other pets chance to grow accustomed to the new smell. Make the first introduction short and sweet, removing your new kitten after a couple of minutes. Most pets will work things out in their own way, which can take about a week. If your pets are having more difficulty adjusting, supervise their time together and be patient.

Introducing a new kitten to an older animal can be very stressful on the older animal. Do remember to still give plenty of love and affection to your old-timer.....that way he won't feel threatened!

CAT CARRIER

Bring your new kitten home in a cat carrier to familiarize your kitten with the invention early on. Cat carriers become a safe and familiar place for your kitten when you take a visit to the vet, a show or when you travel.

KITTEN PROOF YOUR HOME

Like a child, your kitten can get into a a great deal of trouble in a very short time!

Keep small items such as tinsel, rubber bands, balloons, buttons and beads out of reach from your kitten as your kitten can choke on them.

Understand that household products (including plants) could may well be deadly to your new kitten.

Do keep electric cords away from your kitten or wrapped in heavy tape.

YOUR BREEDING QUEEN

Your little kitten, will come into season at her own pace. She will call (very loudly), get very affectionate....and become an escape artist! Do make sure that you keep your queen safe and well away from the local Toms! Really, you do not want to mate your queen until she is about 1 year old, and of course you would want to take her to the stud cat of your choice. So please, try to make sure that you keep her well away from any other than your choice of stud.

YOUR QUALITY PET

If you have purchased a kitten as a quality pet and not for breeding, you must contact your vet and find out when they suggest neutering and get them booked in! They will have been registered with the GCCF, but not on the active register and so they cannot be bred without re-registering, this can only be done through Fairysnow bengal's prior consent.

Above all, do enjoy your kitten and if you have any questions, then please don't hesitate to CONTACT ME
